Hello and welcome-

I'm France, a lifelong dog and cat guardian (for 25 years) and former foster parent with the ASPCA and Midwest Dachshund Rescue. I'm also a retired social worker and psychotherapist.

13 years ago, when my elderly cat died, I adopted professional pet sitting as a rewarding second career and labor of love. It is one of the best career choices I ever made: I thoroughly enjoy the ongoing companionship of my canine guests and meeting caring, involved pet guardians.

In-Home Cageless Dog Boarding

I welcome a small number of dogs into my home, providing a safe, comfortable and calm overnight boarding environment designed to be as stress-free and nurturing as possible.
This is a dog-friendly home environment and absolutely cage free boarding.

I find it exceptionally rewarding to care for and nurture any dog who wouldn't be happy in a conventional dog boarding kennel. This includes small dogs, seniors, those who are sensitive or shy, or any dog with special medical
or emotional needs.

Mellow middle-aged dogs who appreciate companionship, walks and a quiet place to
snooze are also welcome.

Your Dog's Care

Caring for your dog is my full-time and only profession. Because I have no outside responsibilities, I'm home virtually round the clock to supervise, care for and, most importantly, enjoy the companionship of my canine guests.

Every effort is made to duplicate the home environment and routine your pet is accustomed to and to make them feel at home. She/he will be given the same affection, understanding and respect I would give my own pet. There is lots of quality cuddle/couch time and your dog is even invited to sleep with me if they wish.

And because I understand separation anxiety is as difficult (even more so) on guardians as their dogs, you are welcome - even encouraged - to call in as often as you like for reports on your dog's adjustment and well-being.

It's especially rewarding for me to establish long-term relationships and work in partnership with parents who care deeply about the welfare of their pets and want only the best for them. My priority, second only to providing exceptional pet care, is putting your mind at ease so you can enjoy worry-free travel. It's one of the rewards that makes this work so gratifying that it feels like an extension of my social work career.

Your Dog's Home Away from Home

My home is cozy, cheerful and very dog-friendly. An open floor plan on one level allows me to be in close proximity with the dogs in my care, while two separate bedrooms allow privacy for any dog who is more comfortable with a quiet corner of his/her own. While I have a yard, it's not fenced in, so dogs are given several leashed walks per day and/or bathroom breaks as often as needed (especially important for the comfort of senior dogs).

This is an absolutely cage free dog boarding environment. But if your dog is used to calling his/her crate "home", of course they will be accommodated. Sometimes it's nice to have a place of one's own to retire to! (I also can provide a comfortable dog crate and have plenty of dog beds available.)

Location

I'm located in the quiet, charming and woodsy Montclair district of the Oakland hills, a short drive from Highways # 13, 24, 580, 80 and 880. Travel time (in non-rush hour periods) is approximately 30-40 minutes from central Marin, San Francisco and most Penisula locations.

Pick-up and Drop-off/ Rates

Pick up and drop off hours are flexible and I'll make every effort to accommodate your travel schedule. If you prefer, I'll provide pick-up and drop-off service for a nominal additional charge.

Rates vary slightly according to length of stay, care requirements and weekend/holiday periods, but generally are approximately $50 per calendar day. Frequent visitors and longer stays will be determined individually.
